Jierui Zhao

Jierui Zhao is a multidisciplinary illustrator and designer currently pursuing a BFA in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City (Class of 2025). His work blends traditional painting with digital tools and 3D modeling, often exploring themes of interaction, visual storytelling, and play.

Originally from China, Jierui has worked as a graphic designer on interdisciplinary projects ranging from educational games and UI/UX to protest art and multimedia installations. With experience in tools like Blender, Cinema 4D, and Procreate, as well as hands-on practices like silkscreen, ceramics, and woodworking, he brings a tactile sensibility to both digital and physical media.

In 2020, he was awarded a Chinese national patent for a toy-integrated game model design, reflecting his interest in merging technology and creativity. Whether designing a Minecraft-based learning experience or crafting protest visuals for a climate strike, Jierui builds thoughtful, immersive experiences that invite users to see—and play—with the world differently.
